Oded Arama’s Version of The Sandal

by Anna Kopito | 13.08.13

For spring/summer 2013, Phoebe Philo took a daring turn and decided to let the models on the runway wear mink-lined Birkenstocks down the runway, as if she knew that the fashion industry was longing for comfortable shoes. Céline’s version of the sandal became the footwear of the summer, and “acceptable” to match to a pair of elegant trousers in luxurious silk. The upcoming Resort 2014 collections show that additional designers, such as Chloé, No. 21, Valentino and Dion Lee, are also encouraging us to follow the trend.

If you still feel skeptical towards the Birkenstock, we have found a more sophisticated option for you; Oded Arama’s take on the casual sandal is beautiful, comfortable and hand-made.

The Israeli shoe designer Oded Arama founded his brand in the summer of 2010, after graduating from Shenkar College of Design and Engineering. His store is located on 19 Masaryk Boulevard, Tel Aviv. Webshop
