SneakerBox, 225 Ben Yehuda Street, Tel Avivby Anna Kopito | 09.07.14
It’s not every day that you meet a Sneakerhead: Real, well dressed, young fresh and new. Not to mention, meeting one on the streets of Tel Aviv. To those who are unfamiliar with the term, a Sneakerhead is a collector, an appreciator, a sport-shoe fanatic.
Mother-ship to those elegant creatures, is SneakerBox – a very cool store on the northern-most part of Ben Yehuda Street. Opened three years ago, the store is run by Ohad Lahav, a visionary who fell in love with the Sneaker-world. And quite literally so: not only is he the proud owner of 70 pairs of sneakers (!), the sneaker store is where he met the love of his life, by now his wife.
The store holds a wide variety of Nike, Adidas and Asics, for both men and women. The Nike selection includes Air Max, WMNS Air Max, Air + Girls Jordan, Rosherun, Blazer, Lebron Hornets, Internationalist, Son of Mars, Flystepper, AF1 “Cresent City”, Dunk sky Hi “Disco Ball”, Auto DT and many more.
For the sneaker-junkies out there, SneakerBox offers mobile-notification for new-releases. But even better, if there is a special shoe you’re after, give Ohad a call and he’ll get it for you.
For more information on the Sneaker-Head phenomena, watch the documentary “Just for Kicks” (2005), from directors Thibaut de Longeville and Lisa Leone.

When she’s not in class, she takes part in designing spatial installations (with an endless passion) and presses “play” on other people’s music.
