Kalimist K Boog

by Anna Kopito | 20.10.14

A retro throw back inspired hip-hop and funk revivalist releasing a new album? Yes. Telavivian artist Kalimist K Boog releases his self-titled kaleidoscope of a new album this week on Raw Tape Records.

The album dives deep into the artist’s musical passions and comes up with a melodic homage to the 1980s funk scene while keeping itself firmly ahead of the time. The album expands and inspires the ears of the listener – with twelve tracks the artist takes us down a path of his own musical history and exploration. Contorted through a high-low radio dial we hear notes from boogie and soul, hip-hop and G-Funk rap. To say that this album is dynamic would be an understatement.

Kalimist K Boog has been DJing in major clubs in London, Berlin, New York and Tel Aviv and was commissioned to create exclusive tracks for Nike BMX’s video series. Get your headphones on, get your friends together, you’re going to want to set aside some dancing time for this.

Listen to the album here.
