Lurking – A Film by Tamuz Rachman and Jenny Birger
by Anna Kopito | 22.12.14When Jenny Birger and Tamuz Rachman met spontaneously in Golda Park one day – Jenny practising her handstands and Tamuz skateboarding – they knew that they had to make something together. Tamuz and Jenny created the film Lurking, a film which shows the pair using the city in a new way, a way unconsidered by the architects, designers and diplomats – a way not even considered by most pedestrians. Using the city as their playground, Jenny and Tamuz give us a glimpse of the concrete greys and porcelain whites of their urban environment and them playing alongside it. In this film Jenny is distorting her body to fit the curves of benches or the crevices in-between roads. The video Lurking gives us a contemporary and strangely beautiful view of a new, more playful way to get from a to b.
