Loop Design – Makes You Feel At Home
by Anna Kopito | 23.12.14Industrial designer and founder of the home decor brand Loop Design, Elisheva Manekin, has always had an interest for objects for the home. As a child she and her family were always moving around, never spending more than two years in the same home. Her mother used to schlep everything they owned from house to house (to different cities and countries), in a bid to always make them feel at home. This familiarity with the items that her mother brought with them made Elisheva feel more attached to the objects in the house rather than the home itself. Today Elisheva is designing and crafting her own line of home decor, inspired by local aesthetics and surroundings. By paying attention to her surroundings, she was inspired to create the collection Naturally Modern – clean lines in juxtaposition with natural rough materials.
Elisheva finished her studies at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and works in her studio which is located in a moshav called Shekef, near Kiryat Gat. She produces most of her designs on her own, occasionally using the help of local suppliers. Her future plans for Loop Design is to move into a larger workshop, to keep all the production in-house. ”Even though it is not always easy, I find the handmade process very gratifying” she says.
