Knots Studio by Neta Tesler and Itamar Israeli

The first time I was introduced to Neta Tesler and Itamar Israeli’s work at Knots Studio was when I worked at Fresh Paint 7 last November. When I passed inside the ‘Fresh Design’ hall on my way in, the first things my eyes landed on each day were the studio’s extraordinary and intriguing stools and cushions. I would stare at the beautiful tangled array of furniture and try to solve them, with no luck. I wasn’t surprised to later hear that the designs won the fair’s audience selection competition.

Neta Tesler, a graduate of the textile design department of Shenkar College and Itamar Israeli, a graduate of the design department at Holon Institute of Technology, are the co-founders of Knots Studio. The studio specialises in domestic textile products, pieces which are constructed by using a unique binding technique. Inspired by the sailing and navy world the designs are handmade at the studio, located in Jaffa (If you are interested in visiting they do allow visitors, but you must reserve in advance). The results are products that give a twist to any simple home space.

The studio also features knotted scarfs, born from a cooperation between the studio and the Israeli fashion designer Ronen Chen.
By incorporating elements of Telavivian lifestyle and inspiration from the Mediterranean Sea the studio has created products that represent young, urban Telavivian design.
