Dailydoodlegram by Geffen Refaeli

by Anna Kopito | 01.02.15

Geffen Refaeli – a young Telavivian illustrator – is an Instagram phenomenon. Every day Refaeli’s followers get a lovely, surrealist doodle sent straight to their feed. Refaeli simply draws her doodles with a black pen and uploads a snapshot of them to the dailydoodlegram account. The doodles are inspired by different images and elements in her own photostream, which are then combined to create a dreamlike illustration.

That might sound easy, but Refaeli dedicates a lot of time and effort to running her doodle project. Yet this effort pays off, as more than 60,000 people worldwide follow the dailydoodlegram account, and it’s rapidly growing. A few of the doodles have also been printed on T-shirts and totes (available on Refaeli’s online store, link below). Some have even been tattooed by her most dedicated followers!

What’s special about this project is that it has forged a sense of community; Refaeli tags the people whose pictures inspired the doodle, allowing the followers to take an inside look into the doodling process. “In the project I try to use and explore the boundaries of the social aspect and format of Instagram”.

As an illustrator working mostly from home, Refaeli allows the outside world to inspire her creation in a very unique way.
